You pay back on your next recharge with a 15% service charge except for the N25 loan which has a service charge of 20%.
How to Borrow Airtime on Airtel
Airtel network now allows you to borrow credit from them just like their other counterparts in the business (MTN, 9mobile, and GLO).
Using a simple USSD code, you can ask for money from your network and payback when you recharge your line
First, dial *500*amount#. Using this service, you can borrow as much as N500 worth of airtime at once. All the networks charge a service charge, the charge is usually between 10 to 15% depending on the network.
For example, MTN has a service charge of 15% which means they will credit you with N185 if you request N200 credit.
How to Borrow Airtime Twice on Airtel
Airtel subscribers will borrow airtime even when they haven’t paid back the old debt, thanks to the telecom’s revamped Beerako product.
It allows customers to borrow airtime to call, text, or even buy data for their personal use and pay back whenever they recharge their accounts.
With the recent improvement of the service, subscribers can now borrow a maximum of two loans within their qualified limit, with each loan having its own expiry period.
One of the unique features offered by the new ‘Beerako’ is the fact that only one loan can be recovered at a time – the oldest one first.
When an account is recharged and as soon as the first loan has been repaid, you are free to get a second loan within your loanable limit.
‘Beerako’ attracts a service fee of only 11 percent per loan. Customers can simply dial *155# to join.
Important Facts About Borrowing Airtime
1. You need to constantly recharge to qualify for borrowing airtime.
2. The amount you receive when you borrow airtime is less than a 10% service charge, i.e., if you borrow N50 you get N45.
3. Once you borrow airtime. The borrowed amount will be deducted the next time you recharge your phone.
4. Borrowed airtime has an expiry date. The lesser the amount, the shorter the expiry date.
5. You can’t subscribe to data with borrowed airtime.
