This University was Established in 1962, University of the Virgin Islands is a non-profit public higher-education institution located in the small city of Charlotte Amalie (The area population ranges between this figures 50,000-249,999 inhabitants). Officially recognized by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education, University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) is a small (University enrollment / admissions ranges between: 2,000-2,999 students) coeducational Virgin Islander higher education institution.

University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) offers courses and programs leading to officially recognized higher education degrees such as bachelor degrees in several areas of study. This 58 years old Virgin Islander higher-education institution has a selective admission policy based on entrance examinations and students’ past academic record and grades.

The admission rate range is 90-100% making this Virgin Islander higher education organization a least selective institution. International students are welcome to apply for enrollment. UVI also provides several academic and non-academic facilities and services to students including a library, housing, sports facilities, study abroad and exchange programs, online courses and distance learning opportunities, as well as administrative services.
