It reflects not only the university’s selectivity but also the caliber of students who join Cornell University, making it a significant factor in the college decision-making process.

Cornell University admissions are highly stringent with an acceptance rate of 8.6% for the class of 2025. International students planning to apply for Cornell University admissions are required to submit an average high school GPA of 3.9 on the 4.0 scale (92%),  GMAT scores above 640 for MBA, 100 in TOEFL-IBT, and recommendation letters.

  • Enrollments: Cornell University is home to 25,582 students, out of which 15,503 students are undergraduates, 7,101 are graduates and 2,978 are professionals. The university has 24%  international students, out of which 50% opt for graduate courses.
  • Admission Deadlines: The admission deadline is for January 2 for undergraduate courses. The deadlines for graduate courses are marked between October to January.
  • Application Process: To apply for admissions, students can apply either through the online application or common application. Most of the international students choose Common Application and the application fee for university is 80 USD.
  • Decision Date: The decision date for admissions was marked for 6 April 2022. The decisions were released at 7:00 p.m. as per Eastern Daylight Time

Likes:

  • Education Quality: The quality of education at Cornell is unmatched. Even a ‘C’ grade from Cornell is often considered equivalent to ‘A’ grade of several other colleges.
  • Research Opportunities: Cornell is one of the best research universities in the world with more than 100 research centers, laboratories, and institutes. It is the 4th largest producer of PhD pursuing graduates in Engineering and Natural Science.
  • PG International Student Intake: Around 50% students pursuing the postgraduate courses at Cornell are international.
  • Placement Opportunities: 97% Cornell graduates received job offers within 4 months of graduation. 96% of the recipients received the job offer with an average base salary of 83,000 USD
  • Campus Location: The campus of the university is located on a beautiful hill, featuring satisfying day and nightlife, good seafood, and drinking options.

Dislikes:

  • Extreme Climate: Due to its hilly location with forest and lake nearby, Cornell experiences extreme cold in the winter.
  • Insufficient Scholarships: The university offers a limited number of need-based scholarships to study in USA to international students. Cornell does not provide any merit aid or athletic scholarships.
  • Lack of Centralisation: The departments are distantly located from each other and from the student dorm.
  • Expensive Courses: The total cost of attendance at Cornell is 80,000 USD, which is quite high.
