It is actually similar to JUPEB program, but there are some differences between the two. In summary, I will explain what Interim Joint Admission Matriculation Board (IJMB) examination is about and how it works below.
The interim Joint Admission Matriculation Board (IJMB) is apparently not a new examination body in Nigeria. It has been in existence sine 1970 when it was established. It will surprise you to know that IJMB is actually a national examination body that has been approved by NUC and recognized by the Federal Government of Nigeria.
It is fully certified by the Nigerian University Commission (NUC) as an alternative to ‘A’ level Examination for candidates who may wish to seek for undergraduate admission into universities both in Nigeria and abroad. Surprisingly, students will not have to take JAMB examination again after this process.
How Interim Joint Admission Matriculation Board (IJMB) works
Below, i will explain how you can gain admission with IJMB:
The interim Joint Admission Matriculation Board (IJMB) programme runs for a period of twelve (12) calendar months, which is divided into two (2) semesters. Within this time, candidates would be lectured at their respective study centers and thereafter sit for the final examination.
When the program is eventually over, successful candidates (that is, candidates that performed very well) will secure admission into 200level in any Nigeria tertiary institution via Direct Entry.
So, instead of wasting one whole year waiting for JAMB to give you the score that you need to gain admission into your dream school, you can quickly apply for this program and be sure of gaining admission into your dream school the next year.
2. Apply for JUPEB admission
Applying for JUPEB admission is another super easy way to gaining admission into some institutions in Nigeria without JAMB. Quickly, I will explain to you what JUPEB is and how the program works.
First, i am sure that you have heard of JUPEB before. Well, if you haven’t, JUPEB is the acronym for Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board. Frankly speaking, JUPEB is a new program in Nigeria because it started in 2013. That notwithstanding, the number of students applying for the program keeps increasing every year.
JUPEB is actually an advanced level program that allows you to gain admission into any JUPEB approved institution without writing JAMB UTME. What I mean is that, after the JUPEB program, you will be offered admission, directly to 200level, in any institution of your choice without writing JAMB.
This is actually the most striking thing about the program. You don’t need to submit your JAMB registration number or result just to gain admission through JUPEB.
Admission requirements for JUPEB
Below are the admission requirements for JUPEB program in Nigeria:
