That is to tell us how important water generally is to our overall health. But what we often don’t know is how important it is to drink it at the right time.

Drinking water at the right/correct time maximizes its effectiveness on the human body.

It’s common knowledge that drinking eight glasses of water a day is essential for the body to function properly.

However, not everyone knows the optimal time to drink water. Just in case you don’t, well here are some of the best times to drink water to boost your overall health.

  1. After Waking Up

There is no better way to warm up your day than having at least a glass of water just after getting up from the bed.

In fact, if you can have 4 glasses of water, it would be much better. It would help activate your internal organs and flush out any toxins.

Having water after waking up is a way of turning on the body and telling it to get ready for the day’s work.

  1. Before work out

If you exercise in the morning before anything else, then the water you drink after you wake up can serve as the water you need before exercise.

Your organs need to be properly activated before a workout. You may need one or several 8-ounce glasses of water to protect against dehydration during and after your workouts.

  1. After Workout

You would definitely need to drink water after vigorous exercise in order to restore the hydration that could have been lost in the course of exercising through perspiration.

Try not to gush it in too quickly as this could cause more harm than good, like cause you to have a  stomach cramp.

  1. Before bath

A vigorous workout is usually followed up with a cool bath, if you have drunk water after your exercise and want to hit the bathtub then fine you can.

…Or you could still drink a little more before having your bath. Whichever way drinking a  glass of water before your bath helps to lower your blood pressure

  1. Before Meal

It is advisable and more beneficial to drink water before and after a meal rather than during a meal as this aids digestion a lot better.

Learn to drink a glass of water 30 minutes before a meal as this not only aids digestion but helps to wake up taste buds and moisturizes the stomach lining.

Drinking before food also makes you feel fuller, which means it could help cut down the amount of food you eat especially for those watching their weights

  1. After Meal

Like I said earlier drinking water before and after is very beneficial. A glass of water an hour after your meals could help the food digest better.

It would also help flush out any hidden food particles in the mouth after a meal. Remember not to gush it too fast and more so -immediately.

  1. Before going to bed

Another best time to drink water would be before you go to bed. A glass of water before hitting your pillow and sleeping off goes a long way to boost your health as it helps prevent certain things such as stroke and heart attack.
