Big Brother Naija Season 9 Housemates Auditions  

BBNaija season 9 auditions happened in March, and the show began premiering on the 28 of July, 2024. It has been themed “No Loose Guard” and is to run for 72 days with the housemates lodged in a house and occupied with different games and activities for their audience to watch. 

At the end of the season, the winner will get a grand prize of 100 million naira, a brand-new SUV, and other prizes.

The BBNaija season 9 auditions began in March. Registration was open for four weeks, and contestants registered online. After the screening, 28 housemates (14 pairs) were selected. The housemates from all corners of Nigeria are already contesting to take their shot at fame and a chance to win the grand prize. 

The live show aired on July 28, 2024, at 7 p.m. on all Africa Magic Channels. Afterward, live content from the house will air daily on the Big Brother Naija Pop-Up channels on DStv channel 198 and GOtv channel 49.

Key Details About BBNaija Auditions

To participate in the BBNaija Season 9 auditions, there are specific eligibility criteria participants must meet:

• They must be at least 21 years old by June 1, 2024, and must have a valid means of identification.
• They must be Nigerian citizens or hold a valid Nigerian passport.
• They must be in good physical and mental health.
• They should have a good moral standing and no criminal record.

The BBNaija Season 9 auditions took place in several major cities across Nigeria. The dates and specific venues were announced on the official BBNaija social media platforms and website.  

Registration was online. Participants were required to record a two-minute video of themselves. The video highlighted their personalities, backgrounds, likes, dislikes, what makes them a dynamic duo, and how these attributes may contribute to their success on the show.

After recording the video, they uploaded it while completing the online registration form.

The registration form required accurate and honest personal information and a recent photograph. Anyone found to have been deliberately untruthful or withheld information relevant to their character or past is automatically disqualified from the selection process. 

After the auditions, successful candidates were shortlisted for further assessments, including medical and psychological evaluations. The final selection of housemates was announced before the show premiered.

BBNaija Season 9 Highlights

The annual high-anticipated reality TV show introduced a twist in this ninth season. For the first time in the history of Big Brother Naija, different from the previous formats, the contestants auditioned in pairs and entered the Big Brother house as partners.

Details released on Big Brother Naija’s official Instagram page revealed that the pairs can be close friends, family members, romantic partners, or any combination that embodies a “dynamic duo.” So you’ll see siblings, couples, and best friends living together. This new twist brings extra drama and excitement to the show.

Also, voting has been made easier. You can use the MyDStv and GOtv apps to vote for your favorite housemates, casting up to 250 votes using the app. You’ll need to download the app and update your contact details to make the process seamless. You can also vote on the Big Brother Naija website, where you can cast up to 100 votes.

In the last three seasons, Big Brother Naija featured a popular prize segment where fans could lock in their guess for the season’s winner. A blind draw determined the winner of 30 million naira among those who guessed correctly. However, this season, fans can lock in their prediction for the immunity challenge winner instead of the overall winner. 

This new twist began on the 1st of August and will run until the 26th of August.

Meet the BBNaija Season 9 Housemates

The highly anticipated Big Brother Naija “No Loose Guard” has officially kicked off, and the house is already buzzing with fun as the housemates embark on their journey to fame.

Looking back at past seasons, we saw memorable contestants like Mercy Eke, who won with her strong personality and strategic gameplay, and Laycon, who won the minds of audiences with his charisma and resilience.

This season’s pairing twist promises even more unique interactions. The dynamics are interesting, with two sets of twins, a married couple, besties, and even a niece and aunt.

Here are details about the housemates:

1. Chizoba and Onyeka. They go by the duo name Chekas. They are sisters and best friends. They both hail from Anambra State. Chizoba, aged 31, is a Software Developer, while Onyeka, aged 28, is a Lawyer and Entrepreneur.
2. Anita and Queen Nelly. They’ve been friends for nine years and go by the show name Nelita. Anita, aged 28 years, is a Specialist Practitioner from Imo State. Queen Nelly, aged 29, is a Chef and Entertainer from Abia State.
3. Victoria and Shaun. They’ve been friends for over a year and go by the show name Shatoria. Victoria, a Travel consultant and commercial model from Imo State, is 25. Shaun, an Entrepreneur, model, and actor from Edo State, is 28.
4. Handi and Wanni are twin sisters and best friends from Kaduna state who go by the show name Wanni x Handi. They are 27 years old and are both Deejays.
5. Zion and Chinwe (Zinwe) are lovebirds dating for six months. Chinwe, 30, is a Beauty and Skincare Entrepreneur from Imo State, while Zion, 26, is a Model and Fashion Designer from Edo State.
6. Tjay and Ben, known as Beta on the show, have been friends for six years. Ben, aged 29, is a Club influencer from Delta State, while Tjay, aged 33, is a Medical Doctor from Ogun State.
7. Kassia and Kellyrae, known as Doublekay on the show, are both from Delta State. They’ve been together for over nine years and married for five months. KayXtra, 30 years old, is an Entrepreneur, while KellyRae, 33, is a Professional singer.
8. Toby Force and Mayor Frosh (Streeze) have been friends since 2022. Mayor, 24 years old and from Oyo state, is a media director and content creator. Toby, 27 years old, is a Content Creator and Dance artist from Ondo State.
9. Nne and Chinne (Ndi Nne) are family members. They are both entrepreneurs from Anambra state. Mary (Nne) is 22 and Chinne’s (31) niece.
10. Known as the Radicals, Michky and Fairme David are close friends. Fairme David, 29 years old, is a professional dancer and content creator from Delta State. Michky, 24 years old, is a gym instructor from Edo State.
11. DJ Flo and Rhuthee (Floruish) have been friends for ten years. DJ Flo, 27 years old, hails from Imo state and is a Deejay. Rhuthee, 32 years old, hails from Akwa Ibom state and is an Event Planner and Caterer.
12. Sooj and Topher (Aces) have been friends for one year. Sooj, 23 years old, is a communications specialist from Imo State. Topher, 24 years old, is a public relations analyst from Lagos State.
13. Tami (Hanid and Toyosi) are both from Osun state and have been best friends for eight years. Damilola, 28, is a Nightlife PR Manager, while Toyosi, 26, is a Beautician.
14. Mbadiwe Twins (Ozee and Ocee) These identical twins are Lawyers, Entertainers, and Entrepreneurs. They are 37 years old and hail from Imo State.
