This university is fully accredited by the Commission on Colleges of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. It also holds other discipline-based accreditations from agencies such as National Association of Schools of Music, National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education, Georgia Professional Standards Commission, American Music Therapy Association, National Association of Schools of Music, and National Athletic Trainers’ Association.
As Georgia’s public liberal arts University, the institute offers undergraduate programs of study to the talented and motivated students in a residential college setting. Students can choose from over 40 majors including liberal arts, business, health sciences, education, and pre-professional programs. The institute awards associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s and specialist degrees through the following academic units: the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences; the J. Whitney Bunting College of Business; the John H. Lounsbury College of Education; and the College of Health Sciences.
The International Education Center at GCSU works with students, faculty, and staff across campus to support international and cross-cultural learning, as well as respect for diversity – one of the four keystones of the Georgia College educational experience. The center also assists the University in producing graduates who are ready to accept responsibilities as citizens of the world.

Admissions
Freshman students seeking admission at this school must send the completed application form along with all the official transcripts and SAT/ACT score for the evaluation process. The admissions decisions are taken based on the total student portfolio and verified potential for contribution to the University and possibility for success in the distinctive environment of the community. Students seeking a transfer to the university must send the application form along with official transcripts from all previously attended institutes, letter of recommendation and resume. International students are also encouraged to apply for admission.
Georgia College and State University Admission Financial Aid
Georgia College & State University offers financial aid to the students through various mediums, such as scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study programs. Grants and scholarships are gifts that students don’t need to return. Some of the grants and scholarships offered are Federal Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, President’s Scholarship Competition, Distinguished Scholars Award, Parrott’s Pointe Scholarship, Watson-Brown Scholarship, and Goizueta Foundation Scholarship. With the help of federal work-study programs, students can find part-time jobs in their fields of interest to help them meet the college expenses. Loans are the type of financial aid that must be returned with interest. Some of the loans offered are Federal Direct (Stafford) Loan, Subsidized loan, Unsubsidized loan, Federal Perkins Loans, and Federal Direct Loan (PLUS) Program.

Students
Students enjoy an active and vibrant campus life that is multi-faceted and involves many student organizations and activities. The institute believes that students’ active involvement beyond the classroom is influential to the student learning process. A wide range of campus activities are provided for the students, faculty, and staff. The Student Government Association (SGA) acts like the voice of the students body and serves the community by addressing student issues, promoting understanding within the college community, and governing all matters which are delegated to the student government by the University President.
There are many registered clubs and organizations present on the campus. Students can either join an organization or start a new one. Some of the student organizations are Association of Computing Machinery (ACM), Collegiate Middle Level Association (CMLA), Global Business Student Leaders Association (GBSLA), American Humanics Student Association (Amer. Humanics), and DM for the Kids.
Greek life also has a strong presence on the campus. The fraternities and sororities are governed by College Panhellenic Council (CPC), Interfraternity Council (IFC), Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC), Association of Fraternity Advisors, National Panhellenic Conference, and North American Interfraternity Conference (NIC). Some of the Greek organizations are Alpha Delta Pi (Zeta Iota) (ADPi), Delta Sigma Theta (Nu Tau) (DST), Delta Zeta (Lambda Pi), Alpha Phi Alpha (Mu Gamma) (APhiA), and Kappa Alpha Order (Epsilon Nu) (KA).
The Colonnade is the college newspaper that includes news coverage, sports, features, editorial opinion, entertainment and advertising.
WGUR offers live radio broadcast experience for students. Bobcat Media Productions provides students with an opportunity to have their work submitted and broadcasted on the campus television station.
Campus Facilities:
The Career Center collaborates with faculty, campus colleagues, and employers to build a bridge between college and career by providing career development services and programs to students and alumni. These programs and services are designed to encourage students to actively explore, practice and execute career and education decisions as they seek lifetime career satisfaction.
The GIVE Center acts as the volunteerism clearinghouse encouraging students to create a difference by linking them to the various needs of the community. Through this center, Georgia College students, faculty and staff become involved in campus wide, national and international volunteering efforts. It offers volunteer opportunities in the areas of animals, children & youth, disabilities, disasters, education & literacy, elderly, minority issues, office & clerical, patriotic & political, poverty, event planning, religious, and more.

Athletics
Georgia College & State University’s athletic department sponsors men’s and women’s teams in diverse sports such as golf, basketball, baseball, volleyball, and soccer. The sports teams are nicknamed the Bobcats. The official mascot is Thunder, the cat. Their colors are Blue and Green. They are members of the Peach Belt Conference. The deserving athletes can also apply for the athletic scholarship.
